Unleashing the next gen ballers!!! Thekwane High School played host to the highly anticipated Mat South Under 14 Basketball Tournament, which came to a thrilling conclusion over the weekend. The event saw 26 teams – 14 girls' teams and 12 boys' teams, from across the region to showcase their skills and teamwork. In the girl's division Empandeni High School's team, led by Coach S.V. Ndlovu, dominated the competition, claiming the top spot. An elated Coach Ndlovu praised his team's determination, "I'm incredibly proud of my girls. They worked tirelessly to perfect their strategy and executed it flawlessly on the court." Minda High School, under the guidance of Ms. N. Dube, secured the runner-up position. "We may not have taken the top spot, but our girls showed remarkable resilience and growth throughout the tournament," Ms. Dube said. THE BUZZER BEATS THE REST: Thekwane and Empandeni High Schools stand tall. The Nash Mat South Under 20  Basketball Tournament, held at Empandeni High School under the skilled leadership of Mr. M. Ndlovu (Head in Charge of Mat South Basketball), culminated in a thrilling finale, as Thekwane High School emerged triumphant in the boys' category and Empandeni High School claimed the top spot in the girls' division.  The tournament showcased a wide range of exceptional talent from participating teams, with Thekwane High School edging out Cyrene High School 52-50 in a thrilling boys' finale that went down to the wire.
